Wrapping Up the Fall 2024 ANSER Docotoral Course on Global SRHR
(18-10-2024)
Today marks the conclusion of the two-week PhD course Global Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights: Methods, Concepts, and Implications for Policy and Practice, hosted jointly by five institutions within the ANSER Network. A cohort of 24 students from over 10 countries gathered to deepen their understanding of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills in research and societal outreach.
The course, led by experts from institutions across the globe—ICRH, Ghent University (Belgium); Karolinska Institutet (Sweden); NOVA National School of Public Health (Portugal); University of Cape Town and University of the Western Cape (South Africa)—offered a unique opportunity to collaborate across diverse settings. Students engaged in online lectures, seminars, and hands-on projects, benefiting from the global perspectives of both the teaching staff and their peers.
Throughout the program, participants explored the multifaceted nature of SRHR, examining how structural factors such as social, political, and economic forces influence reproductive health and rights. They also gained tools to analyze global trends, address challenges, and identify gaps in research, empowering them to contribute to the field in meaningful ways.
A heartfelt thank you to the students for their enthusiasm and dedication, and to the exceptional lecturers and organizing team whose hard work brought this program to life. May the knowledge and skills gained during these two weeks inspire impactful contributions to global SRHR for years to come!
