dr. Damián Insua-Costa
Damián Insua-Costa specializes in hydrometeorology, extreme weather events, climate change and atmospheric modeling.
Bio
I am a postdoctoral researcher with special interest in the hydrological cycle and its extremes as well as in its possible changes induced by global warming. During my time as a PhD candidate in atmospheric physics, I studied the origin of moisture in more than a hundred extreme precipitation events in the western Mediterranean region using moisture tracking techniques. This allowed me to enter the world of atmospheric modeling, learning to run high-resolution simulations with both regional and global models. In the H-CEL team I continue to work in the field of precipitation origin studies but including new techniques and observational data. In parallel, I have also started to work on climate change attribution experiments using the storyline approach.
