dr. ir. Oscar Baez-Villanueva
Oscar Baez-Villanueva specializes in large scale hydrology, remote sensing, droughts, and development of methodologies to improve hydroclimate variables.
I am currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Hydro-Climate Extremes Lab (H-CEL) at Ghent University, where my work revolves around the development of a high-resolution (1 km) evaporation and root-zone soil moisture dataset across Europe and Africa combining process-based models and artificial intelligence techniques. In my previous role during my PhD, I specialized in enhancing the characterization of essential hydrometeorological variables in regions with limited data by integrating remote sensing data, in-situ measurements, and machine learning techniques.
