Marie obtained a master’s degree in Bioscience engineering from KU Leuven. Her master's thesis focused on reducing cadmium concentrations in Latin-American cacao beans. In September 2024, she began her doctoral research about biological and geochemical controls of phosphate saturation on organic carbon in agricultural soils, under the supervision of Steven Sleutel.
