UGent in the CIRCATEX project: Circular non-stick applications via surface texturing.

(25-02-2025) Since November 2024, UGent has been collaborating on the CIRCATEX project, funded by NextGenerationEU and part of Belgium Builds Back Circular (BBBC).

The project, aimed at developing PFAS-free non-stick coatings using laser surface texturing, is a partnership with Sirris, Demeyere CommV, and Capilano BV.

UGent's role focuses on studying protein adhesion mechanisms on heated stainless steel surfaces, led by Oswaldo Lescano and supervised by Prof. Bruno De Meulenaer.
