Fixed-bed, slow pyrolysis reactor

Description

Vertical packed bed reactor, externally heated by a tube furnace and flushing gas preheater. PID temperature control to maximum 800 °C. Reactor volume is ca. 250 ml, typically allowing for 150 g of biomass to be pyrolysed. Highly versatile and manually operated, the reactor has multiple in-bed temperature probes, and can also be operated as a fluidized bed. An ice-bath cooling system allows the collection of condensable vapours, while the non-condensable gases can be metered and sampled.
