World science café @Schoonmeersen - We (non) Belgians are… : come and embrace cultural difference
This session aims to make us curious about our own cultural background, how this is reflected in certain behaviours, and explain that of colleagues with other cultural backgrounds.
The Faculty of Bioengineering is a fascinatingly diverse place. We host students and colleagues from different countries around the world and many people who have worked in other places. But, we are still Flemish, or Italian, Nigerian, … which influences the way we are, act and work. Are we sufficiently aware of our own cultural background? And how does cultural background influence the way we work?
This session aims to make us curious about our own cultural background, how this is reflected in certain behaviours, and explain that of colleagues with other cultural backgrounds. We will share our own experiences working in multicultural environment and invite you all as participants to share your own prejudices and how you have (or have not yet) overcome them.
