Main Research

Global Microbial Genomics

The expertise of the STEM lab extends several aspects of microbial genomics in a One Health perspective, dealing with all animal species, human health as well as the environment. The main aspects include antimicrobial resistance, genomic epidemiology, virulence, host pathogen interaction and several other subjects. The lab deals with bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites. Next to this, mitigation of infectious diseases as well as antimicrobial resistance. Several pathways are followed but the most important ones are microbiome based competitive exclusion flora and bacteriophages.
