EFFORT
Project
EFFORT is short for Ecology from Farm to Fork Of microbial drug Resistance and Transmission. This International project has partners in 10 European countries and covers many interrelated subjects. Each subject with its own focus ranging from metagenomics-based research, to the epidemiology and ecology, and the public health and economic impact of AMR in the food chain.
Within this project, EPI-team members Philip Joosten and Steven Sarrazin focus on the quantification of AMU and the relationship of AMU, biosecurity and farm practices with AMR. The research covers both pig and broiler production, but also includes veal calf, turkey and rainbow trout farms.
