Consultancy in the Building Physics, Construction and Services domain

The Building Physics, Construction and Services research unit provides consultancy for manufacturers, designers and contractors in the building sector. We perform simulations, experiments and quality assurance tests for building components, building services, whole buildings and construction techniques. For example:

• Evaluation of moisture problems in buildings
• Experimental assessment of air tightness, water tightness and mechanical behaviour of building components in the Test Centre for Façade Elements
• Thermal optimisation of window frames (Uf-value) or thermal bridges (Ψ-value)
• Numerical simulations on the hygrothermal behaviour of innovative building materials and components, and analysis of complex hygrothermal pathologies
• R&D support for ventilation technology
• Performance assessment of ventilation systems
• Case-specific advice on design and monitoring of domestic hot water systems
• Case-specific advice on Legionella disinfection and energy savings
• R&D support for anti-Legionella applications

Other consultancy tasks can be performed if they fit in the context of ongoing research projects.
