Claude Laurens. Architect
In the context of his doctoral research, Johan Lagae conducted research on the personal archives of the French architect Claude Laurens. At the suggestion of Mil De Kooning, Lagae produced a catalogue d’oeuvre of the architect’s work. In dialogue and collaboration with the architect and his wife, the complete archive was inventoried between 1995 and 2001. In all, 3000 original drawings were listed, described and, whenever necessary, restored. The photographic collections were also reorganized.
Many projects of Claude Laurens from France, Belgium and the former Belgian Congo are abundantly documented in the catalogue d’oeuvre via the original drawings and contemporary photographs.
The catalogue was published in 2002 as numbers 53–54 in the series Vlees & Beton, edited by Mil De Kooning.
