Biography

Arnold Janssens is professor in building physics and building construction applications at Ghent University since 1999. He graduated as a civil engineer-architect (building technology option) at the KU Leuven in 1990. He obtained a doctorate in applied sciences (civil engineering) in 1998 with a dissertation on ‘Reliable control of internal condensation in lightweight roof systems’ (supervisor H. Hens). At Ghent University he teaches courses on "building physics", "building acoustics and lighting technology", "building services" and "building physics: advanced topics" within the architectural and civil engineering programme. He is the scientific coordinator of the postgraduate programme ‘Energy technology in buildings’ which is organized every year since 2006. His research interests are the modeling of heat, air and moisture transfer in buildings, the energy performance and indoor climate of buildings, and the energy renovation of dwellings.
