Biography
In 2014, Stijn Van de Putte (°1991) graduated as a ‘Master of Science in engineering: Architecture – specialization Architectural Design and Construction Techniques’ at Ghent University. His master’s thesis dealt with the commissioning of the workmanship and the use of the building and its installations in a carbon-neutral neighbourhood. Afterwards, he obtained the Degree of Teacher through the Specific Teacher Training (didactics of mathematics) at Ghent University and from 2015 to 2017 he started working as an engineer in a construction company.
Since 2017 he has been working at the Building Physics research group. He is responsible for the follow-up of the VLAIO Living Lab projects in which the research group is involved: energy optimization of historic residential clusters (case De Schipjes, Bruges), phased energy renovation of social flat buildings (case Driehofsteden, Courtrai) and development of (cost) optimal renovation strategies for architecturally valuable residential blocks (case Kielpark tower, Antwerp). Various aspects are addressed in these projects: evaluation of energy use and user comfort before and after renovation, user feedback, execution of several in situ tests, simulation of different technical scenarios, etc. Within the Knowledge Platform Renovation, the results of the various Living Lab projects are brought together and analysed. Other small projects in which he is involved include the ‘My Health Home’ project in cooperation with VITO and the development of TOTEM training courses.
He also helps in education, including assistance in building technology courses and the supervision of master theses.
