Laura Shllaku
Laura holds a Master's in European Urban Studies from Bauhaus-University Weimar (2018) and a Bachelor's in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of Prishtina (2014). Her master's thesis explored the link between urban sprawl and carbon emissions, using Flanders as a case study.
She worked for five years in Belgium as a freelance urban designer and strategic planner (BUUR, Spatie maakt ruimte, and Planrr/duust), focusing on energy transition, circular economy, and sustainable urban development.
In August 2024, Laura started a joint PhD at Ghent University (AMRP) and VUB Brussels (Cosmopolis), researching urban transition pathways to Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) with a focus on vulnerable communities. She is currently involved in two projects, CO2PED and PED4ALL, that investigate PED development.
