URBACT

URBACT is a European exchange and learning programme promoting sustainable urban development. It enables cities to work together to develop solutions to major urban challenges, reaffirming the key role they play in facing increasingly complex societal changes.

• We help cities develop pragmatic solutions that are new and sustainable, and that integrate economic, social and environmental dimensions.
• We enable cities to share good practices and lessons learned with all professionals involved in urban policy throughout Europe.
• URBACT is a network made of 550 cities in 29 European countries and has 7000 active local stakeholders. Antwerp, Ghent, Brussels and Liège are the Belgian cities who contribute.
• URBACT is jointly financed by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund) and the Member States.

Lepur (Centre de Recherche en Sciences de la Ville, du Territoire et du Milieu rural) from the University of Liège is the Belgian Urbact point and AMRP do the Flemish part. Tristan Claus and Luuk Boelens work on it (European URBACT-site).
