Additive Manufacturing for Electrical Machines

Additive Manufacturing (AM) plays an essential role in meeting some of the most essential requirements of the fourth industrial revolution. AM has been growing remarkably in the past few years. Thanks to the advantages of flexibility and zero material waste, this technology opens the door for new design solutions with greater material efficiency, which are not possible with conventional machining techniques.

This research research invistages the possibility of using additive manufacturing to improve the performance of the electric machines. Several possibilities have been investigated such as new winding topologies to reduce the losses, new cooling method to evaluate the heat, new ferromagnetic cores to improve the power density of the machines.
