Data-driven lifetime assessment of a wing sail system

Orcelle Wind Project pioneers wind-assisted maritime decarbonization. Funded by Horizon Europe, it develops a wing-powered cargo vessel. UGent leads in creating numerical tools for structural integrity, ensuring safe wind-assisted operations. Objectives include tool development and implementing a sensor suite for load monitoring. Using Finite Element Analysis and simulations, the study assesses fatigue reliability and integrates real-time sensor data for proactive maintenance. Orcelle Wind aims to elevate safety standards, contributing to sustainable and decarbonized maritime transport.
