Gear testing
Gear tests performed at Soete are done using an FZG test rig (Forschungsstelle fur Zahnrader und Getriebebau). Our test rig consists of a test gearbox in which your gears can be mounted for testing. During the tests, an initial static load is applied, while the other test parameters such as speed, lubrication, etc. can be changed dynamically during the test.
Possible test conditions:
- Mechanical power up to 150kW
- Loads up to 1650Nm
- Rotational speed up to 4000 rpm
Possible gear geometries:
- Gear diameter: 80mm - 200mm
- Pinion diameter: 80mm - 105mm
- Gear width: up to 40mm
- Wheelbase: 89mm - 140mm
It is possible to test various gear mounting techniques, enabling a more comprehensive examination of transmission systems.
A high-performance data-acquisition system is used to monitor parameters like vibrations, torque, and temperatures. Future upgrades will include the addition of microphones and acoustic emissions sensors.
The test gear is now being equipped with a vision system. This means that in the future, we will be able to use a cutting-edge online vision-assisted condition monitoring system to directly assess the health of the gear surfaces while they are in use.
