An honorary professorship is a prestigious title that is awarded to a qualified academic in recognition of exceptional achievements and contributions to a specific field or society in general. It is therefore a wonderful reward for a rich academic career.

During the laudation, special attention was paid to Prof. Van Langenhove's pioneering work in the field of intelligent textiles and to her efforts for innovation and internationalisation of textile education. The explicit mention of the achievements with regard to education in addition to research is important, as educational efforts are not always properly appreciated.

Of course, the award of this honorary professorship is not only the merit of Prof. Van Langenhove alone, but of the entire team, of all researchers and supporting technical and administrative staff. They also deserve the necessary recognition.

CTSE has had a good collaboration with the University of West Attica for many years in the field of intelligent textiles and educational innovation and internationalisation. Several researchers and students stayed at CTSE as part of their master's or doctoral research. This token of appreciation will undoubtedly further strengthen the bond
