Abdul Wahab Memon obtained his PhD

(27-03-2024) Abdul Wahab Memon obtained his PhD on 21 March 2024, after his successful public defense.

The title of his PhD thesis is "Breathable and Stretchable Textile Antennas".

Wearable systems rely on efficient wireless communication for consistent data transmission. A textile antenna is a suitable option to be used as a communication device. During wearable application, the challenges it experiences are associated with environmental humidity. It alters the antenna's electromagnetic performance. More functionalities from a single gadget are increasingly demanded to help reduce the number of devices within a wearable system and avoid integration complexities. Attributes such as stretchability, and flexibility are favorable for a textile antenna. This doctoral dissertation adds two aspects associated with textile antennas: first, fabricating a breathable textile patch antenna by bringing innovations in antenna design and choosing high permeable textile materials to increase antenna breathability, and second, developing a stretchable textile antenna by adopting a simple and novel technique for transforming non stretchable materials into stretchable ones.
