Material and process optimization are key factors that could improve textile products and manufacturing. Especially the quest for faster and better production processes as well as higher material performance in technical applications requires new ways of prototyping and analyzing components, for example through model-based digital twins. The multi-scale nature of textile materials makes this however a very challenging topic. Therefor we develop new and improved simulation methods aimed at textile materials and processes. These cover all scales from fiber to fabric and are aimed at mechanical, kinematical and thermal simulations for different applications such as composites, virtual fitting procedures, machine optimization and so on. A glossary of some of our current research topics is given below.
Linking the chemical structure to the properties of silica nanofibers
Combining experimental and modeling techniques leads to an improved understanding on the synthesis and properties of (organo)silica nanofibers, which increases their application potential.
