Large Wave Flume

In the Coastal Engineering Research Group two different wave flumes are used to perform small scale physical model tests to study different coastal processes such as wave overtopping, wave impacts on sea defence structures, stability of breakwaters, etc.
Above, the large wave flume is shown, where waves attack a sea defence structure. The stability of the armour layer is measured and analysed determining if the breakwater will resist the design storm conditions.
