Tianwei Chu visiting researcher in the structural fire engineering team

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of Mr. Tianwei Chu as a visiting PhD student to the SFE@UGent team. Coming from the Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Mr. Chu has conducted his research on the impact of glass window opening on the fire behaviors in large open-plan compartment and the development of an ‘active opening’ fire suppression strategy under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Liming Jiang and Prof. Asif Usmani. Tianwei’s six-month research collaboration with Ruben’s team will focus on heat transfer for glass components and glass fracture failure criteria. We warmly welcome Mr. Chu to our community and look forward to the innovative contributions his work will bring.
