History of CPAF

In September 2021, the 1st edition of the China Partners Academic Forum took place on the occasion of the 15th Anniversary of our platform. Thanks to the success of that first, fully online edition, the Forum was turned into an annual event.

The second edition in 2022 showed a considerable growth from 8 to no less than 17 webinars, while the third edition in 2023 allowed us to partly start with on-site activities, resulting in 3 in-person seminars, in addition to 6 online webinars.

With this annual academic forum, the East Asia Platform aims to:

  • showcase and promote research cooperation between Ghent University and its partner institutions in China
  • create opportunities for researchers to exchange information about their academic achievements as part of existing bilateral or multilateral cooperation
  • provide a platform for alumni to interact with each other as well as with their former professors and colleagues at Ghent University.

Throughout the years, the Forum could also count on the continued support of the two previous Belgian Ambassadors in Beijing, Mister Jan HOOGMARTENS and Mister Bruno ANGELET, who were so kind to host a closing event in their residence for each of the previous editions of the Forum.
