Code of conduct

The following code of conduct applies to all students enrolled and/or present at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Ghent University, including during the internship.

1. All students are subject to and abide by the general regulations of Ghent University, as described in the Education and Examination Code, during all educational activities.
2. All students are aware of and abide by the several supplementary regulations of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (e.g. faculty examination regulations, supplementary faculty regulations, ...) during their studies, including this code of conduct.
3. UFORA is the only official communication channel. All information regarding education-related activities is communicated through UFORA. Students are expected to consult UFORA regularly.
4. In communication with teachers, staff members, students always use their UGent email address.
5. Students ensure that they are present in class on time so that the class can start on time and will not be disturbed.
6. All students have the correct learning materials (books, calculator, ...) as communicated to them.
7. The Faculty of Economics and Business Adminstration and Ghent University's infrastructures are handled with care. All students help to keep the campus and the university clean, among others by sorting their waste. Damage to a building or material as a consequence of injudicious or negligent behaviour, vandalism or applying graffiti could lead to disciplinary measures.
8. Students of the Faculty of Economics and Business  Administration behave honestly, respectfully and responsible among each other, with faculty staff members, with the faculty's clients and with every social contact.
9. As a member of a pluralistic university with great  attention for diversity, students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration respect dissidents and other cultures and make sure their words and deeds are not hurtful nor discriminating nor damage the faculty's and the university's image.
10. Audiovisual registration of educational activities without permission is prohibited by the Education and Examination Code. Extreme caution should therefore be exercised with social media: information or images of activities during studies can be experienced as inappropriate or shocking by outsiders. Each student is responsible for the possible consequences of spreading educational related content externally.
11. Students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration never engage in any kind of deceitful or dishonest activities, both inside and outside the faculty. For example, falsifying documents and other forms of fraude during evaluation periods, theft or substance abuse will under no circumstances be tolerated.
12. When present at the faculty or during their internship or other educational related activities, students cannot be under the influence of drugs, medicine, alcohol or other products that may influence their mental or motorical functioning.
13. The Faculty Board may convene when students do not abide by the code of conduct as mentioned above. Verifiable breaches on the code of conduct for students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration will be reported to the dean. The Faculty Board will decide within 14 working days whether the complaint is admissible and whether the student(s) should be heard or not. If the facts are proven, the university's Disciplinary Regulations for students will apply and the complete file will be transferred to the rector.
