About the programme

The discipline Data Analytics emphasises the analysis of data in order to improve business decisions. In recent years, all business processes have been digitized to a great extent. As a result, all functional business domains generate a huge amount of data: production, logistics, marketing & sales, finance, etc. These data sources contain a wealth of information and students are trained to extract relevant insights and propose data-driven actions from this big data. This requires a good understanding of the business problem, proper computer skills and knowledge of specific programming languages, and a deep understanding of statistical and machine learning algorithms.

What our international students say about this programme

Melanie Mendoza Jara'The culture shock can be tough, and it is challenging to learn about a completely new education system. Group projects can be intimidating, but they are also the perfect opportunity to learn more about the education system from the Belgian students. I really enjoyed the students’ commitment when working on the projects. They are serious, hard-working, and competitive. You can reach out to them via email or social media to keep in touch after the group project.' - Melanie Mendoza Jara, from Peru
Hony Poordeilami'As a current Business Engineering Master's student, I found Ugent courses in line with the latest trends in Business and world changes. The professors try to include the latest findings and research (Even published in 2023) in their study materials and encourage students to be in touch with the cases and industries. Moreover, they let you put your obtained knowledge during the course into practice by completing assignments and projects from real-world issues in different firms and companies. As a student, you never feel left alone because professors or assistants are always welcome to answer your questions and clarification as they hold a couple of online meetings or guided sessions during the semester to help you with your assignments and study materials and provide feedback on each stage to make sure you are in track.'  - Hony Poordeilami, from Iran
