Climate governance

Climate governance includes the politics, policies, and decision-making processes which steer decarbonisation processes in response to global temperature increase. Social science research contributes to understanding how economies and societies must rapidly reduce carbon emissions in a way which is democratic, fair and just. Climate governance research in our department is multi-faceted: we analyse climate mitigation and adaptation policies; investigate the behaviour of political actors including the European Union, states, cities, and citizens; and explore analytical lenses including democracy, integration, international relations, and public opinion.
