Intermunicipal and regional cooperation

In recent years, attention to 'the region' as an administrative space has steadily increased. Governments worldwide are seeking ways to promote intergovernmental cooperation, as they are confronted with a multitude of societal challenges that transcend existing administrative boundaries. In this context of an increasing need for cooperation, the region is increasingly being promoted as an appropriate level for policy coordination. Our department’s research on intermunicipal and regional cooperation explores various administrative collaboration models, aiming to enrich and inspire the (Flemish) debate on regional formation.
