Local democracy
Local government is the level of government closest to the citizens. It’s where democracy unfolds itself in its purest form: citizens know their local politicians and civil servants, citizens want to participate, and they directly experience the public services delivered by their local government. Local government is thus the perfect laboratory for studying the complex relationships between citizens and government.
