Basic training in Dentistry
Endodontology is taught as a theoretical course (Oral Infection III: Endodontology) in the undergraduate dental training in third bachelor. There is also preclinical training in endodontics (Manual Skills III: Restorative Dentistry, Endodontology and Prothetic dentistry) where students in the third bachelor of Dentistry are taught the different steps of root canal treatment in a preclinical environment. Finally, endodontics is also part of the Clinical Internship in the first and second Master of Dentistry.
Master of Science in Specialised Dentistry: Endodontology
The Department of Oral Health Sciences of Ghent University organises a specialised training program to become an endodontist. It is a 3-year 180 ECTS program with both theoretical courses and clinical internship, in which dentists are trained to become highly skilled and qualified practitioners with pronounced competences in endodontology.
