Exploring the Role of Astroglial Cx43 Hemichannels as Therapeutic Targets in Stroke

Aims

• To determine the role of astroglial Cx43 hemichannels in ischemic brain injury.
• To determine the effect of Cx43 hemichannel opening on astroglial function and neuronal survival.
• To test whether inhibiting Cx43 hemichannels suppresses astroglial and neuronal dysfunction and improves post-stroke neurological outcome.
