In Vitro Testing of Memsorb, a Novel Membrane CO2 Absorber, with the Zeus Anesthesia Machine
Description
This research project examines the performance characteristics of a novel membrane CO2 absorber with an expected life expectancy of at least 6 months. The in vitro set up consists of an anesthesia machine ventilating a balloon into the tip of which a known amount of CO2 is added. By altering the degree of rebreathing by manipulating the fresh gas flow, the efficiency of the new device can be tested over the entire clinically used fresh gas flow range.
