Description
Aortic surgery frequently implies clamping of the aorta which temporarily interrupts arterial blood flow to the tissues, resulting in ischemia. The neural tissues, brain and spinal cord, are especially vulnerable. Therefore pharmacologically induced optimization of the hemodynamic status is of prime importance. The present project aims to assess the relative importance and efficacy of a selective increase in arterial blood pressure (phenylephrine) vs a hemodynamic support aiming at increase cardiac output (ephedrine).
