Experimental Surgery Research Group

The 'Experimental Surgery Research Group' conducts clinical, translational and animal experimental research and currently focuses on two areas:

  • Within the field of gastrointestinal surgery, research focuses on the mechanisms of development and treatment of peritoneal carcinomatosis, intraperitoneal drug delivery, recovery of gastrointestinal motility after surgery and the biomechanical properties of tumours.
  • Within the field of cardiac surgery, a global approach to research is applied starting from cardio-circulatory physiology and implications of related therapeutic possibilities. This also provides scope for disciplines such as cardiology, anaesthesia, critical care, paediatrics and general surgery.
