An Institutional University Cooperation (IUC) programme is a long-term (12 years) institutional partnership between a university in the South and Flemish universities and university colleges. The programme supports the partner university in its triple function as a provider of educational, research[1]related and societal services. It aims at empowering the local university to better fulfil its role as a development actor in society. VLIR-UOS channels the funding supports the partners in the execution and manages the evaluations of the programmes.

UCoBS programme focuses on strengthening the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) flagship, the Community Based Education, Research and Service. The goal is to achieve improved and sustainable household livelihoods for the Most Risk Populations by addressing their demographic challenges.
The forgotten father: a multicomponent intervention targeting men to increase uptake of antenatal care in low resource settings. VLADOC PhD Scholarships 01/01/2016 - 07/02/2021
This study will examine the role of fathers in Southern Mozambique and how they can contribute to better health outcomes for the mother. We will explore if an innovative multicomponent intervention (consisting of an SMS campaign, community sessions and invitation cards), targeting men, can increase male involvement and antenatal care uptake.
