Project Description:
The project aims to spread the cultural heritage of the European ethnic music stored in analogue audio documents. Objectives of this project are:
- To elaborate a general methodology for the preservation and restoration of the different typologies of audio documents of ethnic music
- To locate the materials of folk and traditional music belonging to different countries in our partner archives
- To carry out the digitalisation of a selection of the collections of tapes and discs - shellacs and vinyl - (in particular of records not retrievable on the market) present in the archives inside the consortium
- To create access copies, even through audio restoration work on the most musically or commercially interesting pieces, directed toward radio broadcasting or toward editing operations that can give way to economic relapses
- To plan and realize a system for the search and fruition of the digitalized audio material, aimed toward the objective of creating an on-line web system among the archives of the consortium
- Studying and analysing the musical materials, in order to highlight aspects within different cultures that are expressed through the music
- To organise public events, such as music concerts, scientific conferences, and collectors meetings
The project is coordinated by the University of Udine (UNIUD) and has the following partners:
- Universidade Nova de Lisboa - Faculdade de Ciencias Sociais e Humanas (UNL)
