How will the media landscape evolve, how will future media consumption change and how will this affect the role of public service media?

This chair attempts to examine the societal context in which public service media operate, understand the interplay between transforming technology, disrupting media consumption, shifting media markets and evolving policies. It intends to build, share and reflect on knowledge of future media consumption so as to strengthen the role of the media in contemporary democracies.

We at imec-mict-UGent identify trends related to changing society, technology, markets and policies, and envisage future scenarios of the media landscape. Based on an in-depth examination of media consumption behaviour, we inform public service media about future strategies.
