Carl Balcaen
Developer at the imec research group for Media, Innovation and Communication Technologies, Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Product Design, Ghent University.
Carl studied Business Engineering at the University of Ghent. In 2020, he obtained his master’s degree in Business Engineering with a specialization in Data Science. Additionally, he completed a minor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Wageningen.
After his graduation, he started his professional career as an IT consultant for a big consultancy firm where he mostly worked on process optimizations and project coordination. After two years, he realized that he needed a more challenging occupation and wanted to discover new horizons.
That is why, in October 2022, he joined the mict research group to work as the business developer for ExperienceTwin. In this Tetra project, the goal is to further develop and commercialize the virtual/augmented/mixed reality technology into a service or product.
