Amandine Verstegen studied Theoretical and Experimental Psychology at Ghent University. During her studies, she did an internship at the Psychology and Technology research group at Thomas More University of Applied Sciences in Antwerp. There, she contributed to the Immersive Mental Health project, which explored the potential of virtual reality and wearables to promote relaxation for clients, patients, and healthcare professionals. Specifically, she worked on the development of a smartphone-based virtual reality app focused on relaxation. Her master’s thesis examined the impact of sunlight on work performance and mood, both in natural and virtual environments.

 

Amandine is currently working as a junior researcher at imec-mict-UGent. She will contribute to various projects, including the development of a virtual reality intervention aimed at reducing stress and anxiety in young adults. Additionally, she will be involved in a project focused on investigating the development of an in-ear EEG earbud.
