Emma Martens

Emma Martens is a junior researcher at the research group for Media, Innovation and Communication Technologies at Ghent University. She holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics and Literature (English-Spanish) and a Master’s degree in New Media and Society. In her Master’s thesis, she investigated how the perception of privacy differentiates between parents and children in the context of sharenting. She also did an internship at !DROPS, focusing on communication and innovation.
After graduating in 2019, she worked for 3 years as a digital product designer at an experience studio, learning about user interface design, user research and user experience. She focused primarily on functional analyses of digital products and on the user experience and visual user interface design. In December 2022 she started working as a junior researcher at imec-mict-UGent, joining the sustainability cluster. She will be working on projects focusing on behaviour change linked to sustainability under supervision of dr. Peter Conradie.
