Sander joined imec-mict-UGent as a junior researcher in October 2021. He is currently involved with the SolidLab project which investigates the use of online data stores to facilitate control over personal data. In January 2021, he started his PhD on governance models for decentralised web technologies under the supervision of Prof. dr. Tom Evens (Dept. of Communication Sciences), Prof. dr. Lieselot Danneels (Dept. of Public Governance and Management) and Prof. dr. Lieven De Marez (Dept. of Communication Sciences).
He holds a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences (2021, Ghent University). His master’s thesis concerned a critical analysis of the Big Data discourse in Flemish health care and its implications for issues such as privacy, discrimination and human integrity.
He was previously involved with the Comon project which examined technological solutions to make healthcare more intelligible.
