Stephanie is a researcher and Ph.D. student at the research group Media, Innovation and Communication Technologies (imec-mict-UGent), working under the supervision of Prof. dr. Tom Evens and dr. Kristin Van Damme. She is also affiliated with the Center for Journalism Studies (CJS) research group. Her research domain focuses on debunking misinformation on social media platforms, and studying the impact of technology on journalism and news audiences' perceptions, with a particular focus on the role of generative AI.

She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and a Master’s degree in Journalism at Ghent University. For her master’s thesis, Stephanie conducted a quantitative online study titled "Fact or fake? Trust in online news among Flemish young adults", examining trust in digital news sources. During her master’s program, she completed an internship at TV Oost, where she gained hands-on experience as a video journalist, deepening her understanding of (local) video journalism.
