Steven Dewaele

Steven Dewaele is a policy and regulatory professional active in the digital technology, media, and telecom sectors. He currently works as a university business developer for imec-mict-UGent focusing on introduction and adoption of Solid (www.solidproject.org) as an open, international standard for easier, safer and more responsible handling of personal data on the world wide web. Previously Steven has taken on various policy and regulatory expert, advisory and management roles in government (ministerial cabinets, telecoms regulator, data protection authority), industry (telecoms, broadcast distribution, network equipment provision) and academia (communication networks, audiovisual media). Steven obtained his M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ghent and his LL.M. degree in Competition Law and Economics from the Brussels School of Competition (ULiège & UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles). He has also taken on courses in artificial intelligence and studied economics.
