Talk by prof. Bernd Nidetzky (Graz University of Technology) and prof. Emma Master (University of Toronto) about their research on CAZymes.
Prof. Bernd Nidetzky is renowned for his pioneering research in both fundamental and applied research on enzymes in the context of biocatalytic synthesis, synthetic biology, and reaction engineering.
Prof. Nidetzky is an expert in the enzymology of carbohydrate-active enzymes and has developed various applications involving these enzymes. In recognition of his impactful contributions, Prof. Nidetzky was awarded an honorary doctorate from Ghent University in 2023.
The research of Prof. Emma Master focusses on the discovery and development of carbohydrate-active enzymes that tailor the chemistry of complex plant polysaccharides (e.g., cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, chitin) for their broader use in value-added materials.
Next to enzyme discovery, prof. Master also focuses on the fundamental understanding of enzyme accessibility and action on complex composite materials.
