Roundtable on ethical and methodological challenges of conducting research on/in authoritarian and war-torn contexts.

Bringing together scholars specializing in authoritarian and/or war-torn contexts, this event will discuss ethical and methodological challenges that research on/in such contexts presents.

The event is organized in the form of a roundtable, with opening remarks by the four jury members of the PhD defense of Katsiaryna Lozka, followed by an interactive engagement with PhD students and others in the audience, whereby the jury members will share insights on how to deal with the ethical and methodological challenges of doing research in/on closed contexts.

The roundtable will bring together two experts from UGent – namely the internal jury members Prof Bruno De Cordier and Dr. Laura Luciani - as well as two external scholars – namely the external jury members Prof Sofie Bedford and Dr Vasil Navumau.

The event will take place on the occasion of the public defence of the PhD dissertation by Katsiaryna Lozka.
