Join us for talks by Dr. Frida Sidik on mangrove restoration and Dr. Alison Wee on ecological genomics of mangrove systems.
This event highlights two esteemed scientists in mangrove ecology and coastal systems:
- Dr. Frida Sidik (Research Centre for Oceanography, BRIN, Indonesia) is a leading mangrove ecologist with over 20 years of experience. Her expertise spans mangrove ecology, conservation, restoration, and climate research. Her talk, "Mangrove restoration for climate change mitigation and adaptation," will share insights on the role of restoration projects in addressing climate challenges.
- Dr. Alison Wee (University of Nottingham Malaysia) specializes in the conservation and adaptation of coastal ecosystems. Her research uses genetic tools, like environmental DNA (eDNA), to study biodiversity and detect environmental changes in mangrove systems. Recognized with the L’Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science Award 2022, Dr. Wee will discuss "Ecological genomics of mangrove systems."
