Lecture on benefits and risks of sexting for romantic and sexual development.
During this lecture, Prof Joris Van Ouytsel (Arizona State University) will discuss the potential benefits of sexting for romantic and sexual development as well as the risks such as sextortion, unwanted sexting and image-based sexual abuse. He will also explore implications for prevention and education. The lecture will be followed by a discussion. Additionally, Prof Van Ouytsel is offering ‘office hours’ for (PhD) students who would like to ask more detailed questions that relate specifically to their own research or PhD trajectory.
As an expert in youth research, Prof Van Ouytsel can offer guidance on conducting survey research among adolescents and measuring digital behaviors like sexting and digital forms of dating violence. He will be able to provide individualized feedback on questions about survey design, and participant recruitment.
