Lecture by dr. Evgeniy Redekop

Microporous solid acids - zeolites and zeotypes - are crucial materials for the chemical industry, including emerging processes for the conversion of sustainable resources into fuels and chemicals. These materials owe their functionality to

  • Bronsted Acid Sites (BAS), which can catalyze chemical transformations and control the adsorption
  • Steric effects within their molecular-scale pores, which control shape selectivity and confinement.

In this seminar, we will discuss some of the fundamental studies of adsorption, diffusion, and reactions of probe molecules relevant to the Methanol-To-Hydrocarbons (MTH) process, with a special emphasis on transient experiments and photoionization mass-spectrometry-based methods.
