Talk - What does it mean to belong?

What is belonging? What is the difference between inclusion and belonging? How can those concepts help us and do we need these definitions? Does belonging mean the same for everyone? How can art help us to grasp these concepts?

Researcher Yasmine Kaied of UGent will start the evening by framing concepts such as diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging and the way they relate to each other.

Afterwards, artist Mekhitar Garabadian will guide us through his work into his vision of belonging and the influence of migration on someone's identity.

The evening will be captured by artists Karen Keyrouz and Nour Hifaou.

The evening is a collaboration between Gents Kunstenoverleg, Tashattot, Kiosk and UGent D&I.
