Lecture - The (real) journey of an international engineering student at UGent
Karen De Sousa Pesse is a Senior Executive at Salesforce Public Sector, based in Brussels, Belgium. At Salesforce, Karen works on key trends shaping the Public Sector, supporting governments and institutions in their Digital Transformation and Sustainability journey. Her topics of expertise also involve Corporate Strategy, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, and Diversity & Inclusion. Preceding her current role, Karen acquired extensive international work experience and exposure through global roles and assignments. She graduated in MSc Sustainable Materials Engineering at Ghent University, went to Harvard University, got awards from McKinsey & Company and became Belgium's 40 under 40. That was not always the case, as she had to navigate through lack of funds, prejudice, and other difficulties. During this Aula, Karen will take the stand (literally) and tell her journey, how she overcame the obstacles, and how she is helping others now with the knowledge that she acquired.
